TUATAPERE HOME GUARD.— A ball held in the Clifden Hall in aid of the Home Guard funds was very well attended, £25 being taken at the door. Captain Leith, of Invercargill, was present and spoke on the importance of Home Guardsmen being well equipped. On Sunday Captain Leith was also present when units from the Tuatapere district met at Clifden. Some of the officers are now equipped with uniforms and it is hoped to have enough for all members within the next two weeks. Members of the Red Cross executive met recently to prepare first field dressings to be distributed to all Home Guardsmen in the district. Some 500 will be required and they consist of an absorbent dressing, gauze, and bandage, enclosed in a waterproof covering.
