Commercial NO CHANGE N LAMB SCHEDULE

There will be no change this week in the fat lamb and sheep export schedule. The freezing works will probably close about June 17.

COLOMBO TEA SALE J. Rattray and Son Ltd. have received the following report of the tea auction held In Colombo last week:— Full supplies of all grades were offered, with the quality showing a seasonal decline. Common teas were in good demand with a slight advance. Medium and fine grades declined by %d to Id a pound. MATAURA STOCK SALE There was a fairly sound demand at the monthly Mataura stock sale and the prices secured were about on a par with those ruling at recent sales. Ewe lainbs made up most of the entry in the sheep sectio nhad these sold as high as 30/6, other prices being from 23/3 to 28/-. Forward wether lambs brought 21/-, and stores sold at 16/1. Fat wethers brought 33/- and 34/-. In the cattle section fat bullocks sold well and made from £ll/15/- to £l4/15/-. Fat heifers sold at £6 and £7/2/6, and cows realized from £3/12/6 to £9/15/-. NATIONAL - HORSE FAIR A demand for good young working horses was evident at the monthly horse fair conducted by the National Mortgage and Agency Co. Ltd., Gore, on Friday. Old and unsound sorts were hard to sell, however, and there were several passings. The top price of the sale was paid for a six-year-old mare offered on account of Mr J. O’Donnell (Brydone), this horse changing hands at £2l/10/-. Other mares up to six years brought £2O/10/-, £l6, £l4, £l3/10/-, down to £ll/10/-, seven and eight-year-old sorts realized from £9/10/- to £l6/10/- and l aged sorts sold down to £l. Geldings from four years to six years sold from £lO/10/to £l4/10/- and aged sorts sold at £9/10/down to £3/10/- and £l. An eight-year-old hack gelding made £9 and a seven-year-old hack mare realized £l4. THE "RIALTO William Todd and Co.
