GORE BOROUGH. A DAYLIGHT Dispersal of the Central Area and all Schools will take place at 9.45 a.m. bn THURSDAY, JUNE 11. The Central Area is defined as that part of the Borough from the north side of Hyde Street to Irwell Street, and from Fairfield Street to the Mataura River. INSTRUCTIONS TO GENERAL PUBLIC. All Business and Residential Premises within this area are to be vacated and the occupants and pedestrians dispersed and the streets cleared as follows:— At 9.45 a.m. the alarm, consisting of a series of siren blasts of 10 seconds each, separated by five-second intervals, the whole signal lasting two minutes, will be sounded, when all people west of Main Street and the Waimea Railway Line will proceed to the Borough Reserves west of Fairfield Street by the shortest and most direct route. All people east of Main Street and the Waimea Railway Line will proceed to the river bank by the shortest and most direct route. No vehicular traffic whatever will be allowed in the area during the dispersal. SCHOOLS All school children will proceed to their dispersal areas under the supervision of their teachers. INSTRUCTIONS TO E.P.S. PERSONNEL. Wardens: Wardens in the area concerned will take up their posts and supervise the dispersal as instructed. E.P.S. Runners are not required to report on this occasion. Emergency Traffic Police will take up their posts, stop and direct vehicular traffic as instructed. Law and Order Section will take up their posts and patrol as instructed. Members will report offenders to their senior officers, who will then submit combined reports to the Controller within 24 hours. When the Controller is satisfied the dispersal is completed, the all-clear signal, consisting of continuous siren blasts of even pitch of two minutes duration will be sounded, after which all people will return to their normal duties as quickly as possible. GENERAL Owing to the seriousness of the position today Employers and the General Public are expected to co-operate fully, give assistance, and to treat the matter seriously, so that the dispersal can be carried out expeditiously and with a minimum loss of time.
