CREW OF SCOW RETURN— The Bluff Harbour Board’s launch returned late on Monday night with the captain and crew of the scow Horouta, which ran ashore last week on Centre Island. An official inquiry is to be held. SERVING TWO PURPOSES.— Thirty-six £1 Liberty Bonds have been presented to the Southland Provincial Patriotic Fund. In this way the bonds are being made to serve two purposes, helping the war effort and swelling the Patriotic Fund. BALANCE-SHEETS REQUIRED— Regulations requiring farewell and welcome home committees to furnish balance-sheets regularly were discussed at a meeting of the executive of the Southland Provincial Patriotic Council yesterday. The honorary secretary, Mr W. F. Sturman, was asked to communicate with zone secretaries requesting them to supply a list of farewell and welcome home committees in their zones. These committees will be asked to furnish balance-sheets and other necessary details to the executive in conformity with the regulations.
