N.Z. PRISONERS OF WAR

PARCELS BEING RECEIVED IN GERMANY (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 30. The Government has been informed by tiie International Red Cross that there are approximately 70 New Zealand prisoners of war in Singapore, states the Prisoners of War Inquiry Office. Details are not yet available. The office has informed next of kin of evidence showing that prisoners in Germany are receiving parcels. Relations with letters of acknowledgment from prisoners for personal parcels from New Zealand are asked to inform the inquiry office so that information can be passed on to relations who have not received letters. Inquiries from persons who sent details of men still missing are being sorted, and some cables have already been sent forward. Letters from prisoners are now coming through fairly freely; some were posted as recently as the middle of March. ' . .
