HOW NEW ZEALAND CAN HELP CHINA
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, May 31. “The National Government of China regards the maintenance of the integrity of New Zealand and Australia as of equal importance to the territorial defence of China because there can be no real safety for China or for any of us until the common threat to the democratic Powers which have interests in the Pacific area is removed for ever, said Mr Sze Zau-tsung, of the Chinese
consular service, who has reached New Zealand to take up an appointment at the Consulate-General in Wellington. As far as New Zealand and Australia were concerned they could help China best by helping themselves to the utm°What protects you,” said Mr Sze, “also protects us, for China could never be safe while other nations of the Pacific were being overrun.” His recent stay in Australia had convinced him that that country was doing its utmost not only in defence, but also to prepare itself to be the base for an offensive against the enemy, and he was sure that he would find New Zealand like-minded and similarly active.
