GERMANS ARRESTED IN NEW YORK AREA
(Rec. 11.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, May 30. Federal Bureau of Investigation agents seized a number of German aliens and nationals and a quantity of arms and ammunition, also 30 collapsible rubber boats and maps of inland waterways, in nearby Edgewater (New Jersey). It was one of the largest raids in the New York area since the war broke out. Whole families of Germans are included in those seized. The Edgewater Colony Association was organized several years ago as a boating club on the shores of the Hudson river in the shadow of George Washington Bridge linking New York City with New Jersey. The colony also lies near a large Ford assembly plant. The rubber boats seized were similar to , those used bv the German Armv.
