PROGRESS OF LIBERTY LOAN
OVER £13,000,000 RECEIVED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 31. The Reserve Bank reports that Liberty Loan receipts to noon yesterday amounted to £13,469,710. Saturday morning’s subscriptions totalled £l,039,600. The applications in each class are: 24 per cent. 1947 stock, £4,966,250; 3 per cent. 1952-55 stock, £8,503,460. Large applications include: T. and G. Assurance, a further £25,000; staff of Mac Duff’s Ltd. £1000; New Zealand Insurance Company, a further £50,000; South British Insurance Company, a further £lOO,OOO. LIBERTY BONDS SOLD AT PICTURES . A splendid response was accorded a six-minute impromptu appeal for support for the Liberty Loan campaign by the audience at the State Theatre on Saturday evening. The appeal was made by Mr W. G. Nield, organizer of the campaign in Southland, and the Deputy-Mayor, Mr A. Wachner, and resulted in £142 worth of Liberty [Bonds being sold.
