LEVY ON RABBITERS
Sir.—The letters written by “Be Fair” and Mr McCauley are nonsense. It is absolutely untrue to say that the average earnings of winter rabbiters are only £4/10/- a week. lamin a position to know this is gross misrepresentation. It is about time the Income Tax Department got busy and checked up the returns of rabbiters. What is wrong with the system of taking something off the fat cheques of the overpaid winter trappers and giving it to the lower paid summer trapper? _ What about the question of the extermination of the rabbit pest? It is in the best interests of the farmer and the country that rabbits should be destroyed during summer months. If Mr McCauley and ‘‘Be Fair” had their way no rabbits would be taken during the summer so that they would reap a rich harvest in the winter. TAXPAYER.
