CHEESE MAKERS’ SUCCESS
SOUTHLAND EXHIBITS! AT DUNEDIN Southland cheese factories were prominent in the prize list in the dairy section at the Otago Winter Show. Five of the classes were won by Southland cheese-makers and many minor awards were won by Southland competitors. The Titiroa factory was awarded the championship class. Classes in whic southern exhibitors were successful were as follows: — One cheese, white, suitable for export I (open). Thirteen entries—Dalefield (9b points) 1, Titiroa (94.7 points) 2, Omimi (94.5 points) 3, One cheese, white, suitable tor export, open to factories whose output exceeds 200 tons (open). Six entries.—Dalefield (95 points) 1, Brydone (94.8 points) 2, Stirling (94 points) 3. New Zealand Co-operative Rennet Company’s Cup for one cheese, white, and £2O in cash prizes. Open to factories using New Zealand Co-operative Rennet Company’s rennet as per conditions in dairy schedule. Fifteen entries—Dalefield (95 points) 1, Omimi (94.8 points) 2, Brydone (94.5 points) 3, Waianiwa (94.3 points) 4, One cheese, white, suitable for export; open to factories whose output does not exceed 200 tons (open). Nine entries—Titiroa (95 points) 1, Kaitangata (94.8 points) 2, Waianiwa (94.5 points) 3. .'. , South Island Dairy Association s trophy for one cheese, white, suitable for export. Open to factory managers and first assistants who have never won a first prize at an Otago A. and P. Society’s show. Twelve entries—Dalefield (95 points) 1, Omimi (94.8 points) 2, Brydone (94 points) 3. First assistants’ class. One cheese, white, suitable for export. Fourteen entries—Otahuti (94.5 points) 1, Omimi (94.3 points) 2, Dalefield (94 points) 3. One medium factory cheese., white or coloured, suitable for export (open). Fourteen entries—Titiroa (95 points) 1, Omimi (94.8 points) 2, Otahuti (94.5 points) 3. Two loaf cheese, white or coloured (open). Nine entrips—Titiroa (.95 points) 1, Dalefield (94.8 points) 2, Kaitangata (94.5 points) 3. Brydone Memorial Shield, 801 b cheese, suitable for export (open). Twelve entries—Brydone (95 points) 1, Dalefield (94.7 points) 2, Omimi (94.5 points) 3. Championship Class, Otago A. and P. Society’s trophy, 801 b cheese, white, suitable for export, as per dairy factory schedule conditions.
