NEW “PROTECTOR” OF BOHEMIA
HEYDRICH’S SUCCESSOR (8.0.W.) RUGBY, May 28. Prague wireless announced that Heydrich, the so-called Protector of Bohemia and Moravia has been succeeded by the Police General, Kult Daluege, chief of the uniformed police in the German Ministry of the Interior. This appears to confirm reports that Heydrich’s condition is grave. It is explained in Berlin, however, that this appointment was decided on when Heydrich was made CommissarGeneral for Occupied Europe. Czechoslovak circles in London state that the attempt on Heydrich’s life was made with automatic rifles. Two men aged between 30 and 35 fired on Heydrich’s car on the morning of May 27. Both escaped, one on a bicycle and the othei- on foot. One man left behind an attache case which the Gestapo is using in an endeavour to trace the attackers. REPRISAL EXECUTIONS
According to Prague radio reprisal executions have already started.
There have been six executions in Prague. All those executed were members of one family, one was a woman and another a boy 17 years old. They were charged with “deliberately concealing persons engaged in activities against the Reich.” Prague radio says that the Gestapo is making a further effort to find Heydrich’s attackers. All persons in Bohemia and Moravia over 15 years of age must register with the police by midnight tomorrow after which anyone found without a registration card will be shot. Those hiding unregistered persons will also be shot.
