UNDER NAZI ORDERS
(Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, May 29. German technicians and engineers are supervising the construction of sections of the trans-Sahara railway intended ■to connect Dakar with French North African possessions, reports Moscow radio, quoting the Tass Agency’s Lisbon correspondent. Laval, under German pressure, has ordered an intensification of the work, and has instructed the Governor of French West Africa to assign to this work no fewer than 70,000 workers. OFFER TO ITALY
Laval is reported to have sent the pro-Italian Secretary for Labour, Mr La Gardelle, to Rome with the rejection of Italian claims to the cession of Nice and Corsica, but with an offer of compromise regarding Tunis.
