NEW UNITED STATES FIGHTER

(Rec. 6.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, May 27. Quantity production of the Warhawk, a new pursuit aircraft, has begun at the Curtiss-Wright plant at Buffalo. The youngest of the Curtiss-Wright fighter brood, the Warhawk is an improvement on the Tomahawk and the Kitty hawk and is in the 400 miles an hour class. It is the first American fighter with a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. It has a far greater range than the Tomahawk and Kittyhawk. Test pilots, after severe trials, described the Warhawk as one of the “sweetest ships ever.” The Curtiss-Wright organization is also making one of the largest twin-engined transport aircraft, the Curtiss Commando. They will carry cargo or troops for the Army Air Corps.
