NATIONAL * SAVINGS.— Up to Tuesday £1540 had been received in National Savings investments in Invercargill, leaving £503 to be obtained to reach the weekly quota of £2043. There are now 281,000 accounts in the Dominion, of which Southland has more than 17,500. The total investments received to the end of January were £4,292,000, of which £2,271,000 has been received in the current financial year. VATICAN BROADCASTS— The Dominion executive of the R.S.A. at a recent meeting resolved to send through the appropriate channel a suitably worded message of appreciation to the Vatican for broadcasting the names of prisoners of war, particularly New Zealanders, giving untold relief to numerous anxious relations. R.S.A. MEMBERSHIP— At January 31 the financial membership of 94 affiliated branches of the New Zealand Returned Services Association showed an increase of 1700 over the same date last year. Included in this total are over 1200 returned servicemen from the present war.
