INDIA’S FINANCES.— Fresh taxation, yielding £9,000,000, is announced in the Indian Budget. An estimated deficit of £26,125,000 will be covered by borrowing. Defence expenditure for 1942-3 is estimated at £99,750,000, compared with £76,500,000 in 1941-42, when the deficit totalled £12,750,000. (New Delhi).
