GLADYNEV FAVOURED IN CUP (Special) DUNEDIN, February 27. With half the field in the Dunedin Cup from Southland stables the Dunedin Jockey Club’s meeting at Wingatui tomorrow has a decided Southland flavour. The Southland representation at the meeting totals over 20 horses, and, as in recent years, it is expected that they will get a good share of the prize-money. Heavy intermittent rain for most of the week has left the Wingatui track in anything but a fast condition and stormy weather, with rain showers, today has not improved the position. If there is no more rain the track should be in fair order with a tendency to softness. ASHBURTON TROTTING CLUB’S PROBLEM

(P.A.) ASHBURTON, February 27. The committee of the Ashburton Trotting Club today received advice that the Minister of Internal Affairs had agreed to the club holding a meeting at Timaru on March 28, but would not issue a totalizator permit on account of the Waimate races on that date. The Methven course is not available. The committee decided, if possible, to hold a two-day meeting later, possibly in June.
