ST. JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE
The attendance at the meeting of the Invercargill Men’s Division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade this year- has been splendid and the membership was further increased at the last meeting. A marked revival of interest in the activities of the division is much in evidence, and it is hoped that this enthusiasm will be continued long after hostilities have ceased. Part of the evening was taken up with further practice of artificial respiration, the new members particularly displaying keenness in their work, which made the task of the instructors much easier. In accordance with previous arrangements the division was divided into permanent stretcher squads. A rehearsal was then carried out in which the combined squads had to form up in their allotted positions and supply themselves with stretchers and first aid kits, in readiness to be called out in an emergency. This was done in remarkably quick time and with complete absence of confusion.
