CARE OF BATTERY
NEED FOR REGULAR TESTING
The Automobile Association (Southland) issues the following message 4o its members concerning batteries: — When a car is standing idle for any length of time, the most vulnerable part is the battery. Those who live within reach and have no hydrometers themselves should arrange for their garage or service station to send a youth out every month or six weeks to test the battery. The cost will be small and he will let them know if the battery needs charging. Between these visits, say, every week, test the horn and the headlights with the garage doors shut, and if there is the least suggestion of weakness,, arrange to have the battery tested at once. Never leave a battery in a discharged or “flat” condition, for it will then deteriorate rapidly and may become impossible to recharge.
