HOME GUARD
INVERCARGILL BATTALION PARADES: Sunday, January 25.—9.30 a.m., city companies (less engineering section) assemble in Kelvin avenue. M.M. gun section will parade at the Drill Hall. Company commanders will report at battalion headquarters at 9.15 a.m. Transport will be by Lines of Communication Transport Company. Country units assemble at their respective points and move to positions in motorcars according to unit arrangements. Rations for both city and country units will be provided under battalion arrangements. Each Guardsman should bring plate, mug, knife, fork and spoon. Each section to have section tools, including a spade or shovel for each man. Engineers will parade at the Drill Hall at 9.30 a.m. for a whole day parade under their own arrangements. Wednesday, January 28.-7 p.m., battalion will parade at Drill Hall for training under company arrangements. Stretcher Bearers.—Further enrolments in this section of Headquarters Company are urgently needed. A course under Dr A. W. Owen-Johnston is to start next week.
Special Courses of Instruction.—Opportunities for special training are being offered- by a series of courses at northern camps. The first group of Guardsmen leaves for Burnham today. Major J. E. Cuthill and Lieutenant G. M. Broughton return tomorrow from a special course for commanding officers and adjutants.
