FATHER OFFERS £3000
Son Reported Missing
On Flight
(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, January 22. An offer of £3OOO for the discovery alive of either of two members of the R.N.Z.A.F. reported missing yesterday has been made by Mr J. R. McKenzie, father of Leading' Aircraftman Donald Hugh McKenzie. Mr McKenzie offered alternatively £lOOO for the discovery of the wreck of the aeroplane, which was reported overdue on a training flight. The other occupant was Leading Aircraftman Jack Trevor Villers, of Stratford.
Leading Aircraftman McKenzie, who is 20, had just gained his wings and was due to go on leave at the end of the month. He was educated at the Timaru Boys’ High School, where he was head prefect and a member of the first fifteen. He was a keen skier, and as a member of the Tasman Ski Club won several competitions at Mount Cook. He volunteered for the Air Force six months ago. After passing through a North Island elementary flying training school he completed his training at South Island stations.
