ABANDONED BOWLING TOURNAMENT

(P.A.) DUNEDIN, January 22. At a meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Bowling Association tonight replies were received from nonexecutive members of the council unanimously agreeing to recommendations submitted to the council by the executive on the subject of the abandoned New Zealand tournament at Dunedin. They were: (1) That entry fees for the tournament be refunded in full; (2) that the next championship tournament be held in Dunedin; (3) that the executive be empowered during the period of the present national emergency to dispense with the calling and holding of the annual meeting unless the emergency comes to a speedy conclusion; (4) that if by March 31 it still appears impracticable to call the annual meeting, no election of councillors take place this year, the existing officers and councillors to remain in office for next year. It was reported that the bowlers’ patriotic fund had now reached between £6OO and £7OO.
