PLANS FOR FUTURE RACING

MEETING OF CONFERENCE TODAY The New Zealand Racing Conference will discuss the matter of racing days and dates at a meeting in Wellington today. The applications of clubs will be considered and proposals for the conduct of future racing submitted to the Government. Within the next day or two clubs will know how they are to be placed for the remainder of the season and plans will be able to be made accordingly. Certissimus

Certissimus has started seven times this season for five wins and one second, his only unplaced performance being against the pacers in the Four-Year-Old Stakes. Gore Nominations

Nominations for the Gore Racing Club’s meeting close at 5 p.m. next Friday.

Winton Jockey Club Nominations for the Winton meeting on February 7 close on ‘Monday at 8 p.m. Dark Hazard’s Class

Certissimus had one of the hardest races of his career to outstay Dark Hazard over two miles at Washdyke on Saturday, and the fact that he was in receipt of 12yds from Dark Hazard will invest the Canterbury Two-Mile Trotting Championship next month with much interest. It is hoped also that Lament, Within, and other class trotters will be in the field. Lament has won the two trotters’ free-for-alls so far decided, and he beat Dark Hazard in both of these. This fact, with Saturday’s evidence of Dark Hazard s anility to test Certissmus, promises a fine race when they all meet off the same mark. Stallions Fill Places

Stallions filled the first four places in the Pareora Handicap, composed of high-class sprinters, at Washdyke on Saturday. They were Springfield Globe, Gold Bar, Nelson Eddy, and Fremont. Their good form on the racetrack is pleasing because of the fact that the likelihood of further importations from America becomes less and less. Success At Two Miles

Magic Task, whose latest track work left the impression that she would not be at a disadvantage over two miles, won the Bruntwood Handicap at Cambridge on Saturday very decisively in 4.36 off 4.55. Josedale Grattan Leads

Thirty-five pacers and trotters have earned £5OO and upwards in stakes this season. Josedale Grattan is still well in the lead with £2285. He has started seven times for three wins, a second, and a third. Second on the list now is Springfield Globe with £1738, and third Clockwork with £1705. The Auckland Cup winner Uenuku has earned £1265, and Haughty follows with. £llB6. Imperial Polly

Imperial Pony, ■ ancestress of 'Gold Bar, 1.59 3-5, won many races and took her place in New Zealand Cup company. An authority who saw her race describes her as one of the best-looking mares ever bred in this country. Imperial Polly comes down to the present generation through two lines, one of which claims Sure, Probationer and other winners, and the other Gold Bar. This season Gold Bar has served some 40 mares, among them being Rustic Maid, dam of a brilliant two-year-old in Highland Scott.

RANDWICK AUTUMN RACES NO NEW ZEALAND ENTRIES (Rec. 5.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, January 22 Fox’ the first time in many years entries have not been received from New Zealand for the Randwick autumn races. The Sydney Morning Herald’s sporting writer says: As there are good horses in New Zealand it is evident that owners have accepted the position that transport will be difficult to arrange. Entries for the Doncaster this year are only 86, compared with 106 last year, and for the Sydney Cup the entries are 78, compared with 90 last year.
