NIGHTCAPS MINES RESUME WORK
EARLY INQUIRY TO BE HELD
Work was resumed yesterday at all mines in the Nightcaps district. This was in accordance with the instructions which the Southland Coal Mine Owners’ Association received in a telegram from the Mining Controller at Wellington on Tuesday night. These instructions were that the mines were to be opened as usual pending an inquiry. The association indicated its willingness to re-engage the suspended men in the meantime and the mines were worked yesterday. No information has yet been received about the date of the inquiry. In his telegram the Mining Controller stated that it would be held at the earliest possible date.
