The Hon. Mr Justice Kennedy travelled to Gore by the express yesterday morning.

The condition of the Mayor (Mr J. R. Martin) who is at present a patient in the Park Hospital, was stated last night to be better. It was stated that he was slowly improving. Mr W. Calder Mackay, of Auckland, managing director of the Calder Mackay Company Ltd., arrived in Invercargill by the express last night. Major Martin Brown, of Napier, who has been appointed Salvation Army officer at Invercargill in place of Major C. G. Lee, arrived by last night’s express.

Mr W: G. V. Fernie, of Christchurch, general manager of the Calder Mackay Company, Ltd., arrived in Invercargill by the express last night. Mr D. M. Scandrett left by yesterday afternoon’s express for a business visit to Dunedin. He will return today. Mr F. G. Craig, district traffic manager for the Railways Department at Invercargill, who has been on a tour of inspection of the Eastern District, returned to Invercargill by last night’s express.
