NO NECESSITY FOR PANIC BUYING

That there was no necessity at present for panic buying was emphasized yesterday by Mr C. Bradfield of J. Rattray and Son, Ltd. There were sufficient stocks of essential commodities in New Zealand to last for some considerable time, said Mr Bradfield, and panic buying was unnecessary. Any shortage there might be in any lines was probably only temporary, because of a shortage of shipping space on the New Zealand coast. There was no suggestion of rationing tea and sugar being introduced into New Zealand, although retailers might have found it necessary to limit the quantities sold at any one time.
