The yarding was composed mostly of prime and medium quality, extra heavy bullocks being in shorter supply. The sale opened for good quality equal to last week’s rates, this level being maintained throughout. Extra nrime heavy sorts, however, did not receive the same attention and these were easier by 15/- to £1 a head. Cows and heifers also showed an easing. Extra prime heavy bullocks made to £2l/12/6, prime £l7/12/6 to £l9/2/6, prime medium £l4/17/6 to £l6/17/6, light to £l2 12/6, extra prime cows and heifers to £l3, prime £9/2/6 to £lO/12/6, medium £7/12/6-to £B/12/6. A fairly large entry of 1725 fat sheep was forward compared with a small entry of ’.189 last week. The sale opened under good competition with prices equal to the average rates of the previous week, but as it progressed there was a decided easing for all classes and over the concluding two races sales were hard to effect, even at greatly reduced prices.
