WOMAN FOUND MURDERED

Attacked While At Sewing Machine

(P.A.) PALMERSTON NORTH, Nov. 25. The wife of Mr Frederick Joseph Speight, a commercial traveller, was murdered as she was sitting at a sewing machine in the living room of her house, 245 Park road, Palmerston North, tonight. The attack was made by a person at present unknown, but a man was seen to leave the place hurriedly on a bicycle. Neighbours, alarmed by the woman’s screams, summoned the police. The crime was committed with a hammer. The husband was not at home and the only son, aged 12, was at the pictures.
