OBITUARY
MR P. R. RUNDLE (P.A.) WELLINGTON, November 24. The death has occurred of Mr Philip Norman Rundle, manager of the 1932 Olympic Games team, aged 58. He was a former president of the Wellington and Otago Swimming Centres and of the New Zealand Swimming Association. MR T. J. MARKS (Rec. 11 p.m.) SYDNEY, November 24. The death has occurred of Mr Theodore John Marks, one of the city’s leading architects and a prominent racehorse owner. He was chairman of the Rosehill Racing Club. Mr Marks was 77 years of age. MAJOR P. C. WREN LONDON, November 23. The death has occurred of Major Percival Christopher Wren at the age of 69 years. He was better known as P. C. Wren, author of the famous “Foreign Legion” books. He was educated at Oxford University and then served in the French Army and the Indian Army and was a member of the Foreign Legion. He was Assistant Director of Public Instruction, Bombay, and he served in East Africa during the last war. The novel which brought him fame was “Beau Geste,” and others which were almost as popular were “Beau Sabreur,” “Beau Ideal,” “Dew and Mildew,” “Father Gregory,” “The Wages of Virtue,” “Soldiers of Misfortune,” “Valiant Dust” and “Beggars and Horses.” His latest book was published earlier this year, its title being “Uniform of Glory.” In this book he returns to the Foreign Legion, but from a new and light-hearted point of view.
