Many warm tributes to the excellent arrangements made by the Invercargill Chamber of Commerce for the annual conference of the Associated Chambers in the city and praise for the hospitality extended were contained in letters from conference delegates read at a meeting of the Invercargill Chamber yesterday. Some of the letters have already been published. “The council of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, having heard the report of the delegates to the conference in Invercargill of the Associated Chambers, extends to the Invercargill Chamber grateful appreciation of the hospitality and courtesy extended to the Canterbury delegates, and congratulates it upon the excellence of the arrangements made both for the carrying out of the business of the conference and for the entertainment of delegates, including their trip through the Eglinton Valley.” This resolution was contained in a letter from the secretary of the Canterbury Chamber.

“This chamber would be grateful if you would convey Canterbury’s appreciation to the entertainment committee of your chamber and the women’s organizations which assisted in the entertainment of women visitors to the conference, and to all those organizations which extended hospitality to delegates,” added the letter. “The chamber would appreciate it if you would convey our thanks to the Bluff Borough Council and Harbour Board.” Mr C. S. Hammond, writing on behalf of the Canterbury delegates, expressed warmest thanks for the openhearted hospitality extended to them. They very much appreciated the efforts of all who assisted in making their stay in Invercargill such a very pleasant one, and for arranging the delightful trips to tire Eglinton Valley and elsewhere. "We shall have very happy recollections of our visit, and we shall look forward to the time when we will meet you all again,” added Mr Hammond. DELIGHTED WITH SCENERY In a letter of appreciation, Mr J. L. Menzies, acting Australian Trade Commissioner, stated that he particularly enjoyed his.trip up the Eglinton Valley to the Homer Tunnel and Lake Manapouri. “I was more than delighted with the scenic attractions of the beautiful Southland district,” he added. Mr D. A. Wilkie also expressed thanks for the hospitality extended. “I have been asked to convey to you our thanks for the many kindnesses and the warm hospitality accorded us,” stated a letter read from Captain S. Holm, president of the Associated j Chambers. “We wish to congratulate you for the smooth working and wellorganized manner in which the whole conference was conducted. We all retain happy memories of our sojourn in Southland.”

“First let me say that I thoroughly enjoyed the conference and that I thought the arrangements were surprisingly well made,” stated a letter from Mr S. Lawn, one of the Dunedin delegates.
