FREE DENTAL WORK AT HOSPITAL
TREATMENT ONLY FOR INDIGENT PERSONS
A report that many persons in a sound financial position were trying to obtain free dental treatment at the Southland Hospital which, under the terms of an agreement between the board and the visiting dentist, was for indigent persons only, was received by the Southland Hospital Board at its meeting yesterday. The report came from the house committee of the board. This report stated that the visiting dentist had asked for a ruling from the board to relieve him of the invidious task of deciding which persons were indigent. — The committee, it was stated, recommended that the visiting dentist be given written instructions that only indigent persons and in-patients should be treated under the terms of his agreement: that all persons applying for free dental treatment should be referred to the board’s office to obtain signed authority to receive treatment as indigent persons. The - committee’s recommendation was adopted.
