OBITUARY
MR GEORGE WITTY (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 20. The death has occurred of Mr George Witty, a former M.P. and M.L.C. at the age of 85.
Mr Witty, who was born in Yorkshire, came to New Zealand in 1875 and took up farming in North Canterbury. He took an active part in public life and was a member of a number of boards and committees in North Canterbury. He was also a steward of the Canterbury Park Trotting Club. Mr Witty represented Riccarton in Parliament from 1902 till 1925, when he was appointed to the Legislative Council, serving for a term of seven years.
