IMPORTANT POSITIONS TAKEN

(Rec. 2.15 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 20. The British troops advancing into Cyrenaica have captured positions of great importance according to the latest reports. The enemy outposts were taken by surprise. German and Italian communiques have now mentioned the British advance. The German midday communique said the British forces were moving in the direction of Tobruk and the Italian communique say an attack had been launched by British motorized forces. A communique issued by the Middle East Command of the Royal Air Force states that Naples was again raided last night. AUSTRALIANS NOT LIKELY TO BE IN ACTION CANBERRA, November 20.

The Federal Government has no information that the Australian Imperial Force is taking part in the advance in Libya. The Army Department says it is unlikely that the Australians are in action.
