U.S. NAVY REPORTED IN ACTION

(Rec. 6.35 p.m.) NEW YORK, Nov. 13. The Daily Mirror’s noted columnists, Drew Pearson and Robert Allen, say the United States Navy early this week had a big battle with Nazi surface and submarine raiders off Iceland and the Norwegian approaches to the Russian Arctic ports. They said the Navy either sank or captured a new type of German warship—a mosquito-boat carrier, which carries- a flotilla of small, speedy torpedo launches, which scour the vital shipping lanes around Iceland. The carrier was guarded by U-boats, which attacked the United States ships when they approached the carrier. The columnists said that some U-boats were sunk or captured.
