OPOSSUM TRAPPERS’ GOOD SEASON
RETURN EXCEEDS £60,000 (Special) DUNEDIN, November 14. Today’s opossum skin sale brought to a close what must constitute a record for New Zealand, as approximately 200,000 skin-, were disposed of in Dunedin alone for a return to trappers of more than £60,000. Dunedin is the chief market for opossum skins, and trappers from all over the Dominion consign their skins to auctions in this centre. It has beer a remarkable season for suppliers, who have ' ’’eceived an average price of about 6/- a skin and thus have enjoyed an exceptionally profitable season. As in the case of the rabbit, new uses have been found for opossum skins and there has been a keen demand from overseas for skins from New Zealand.
