NINETY-EIGHT YEARS OF AGE MRS MARGARET AULD OF DUNEDIN Mrs Margaret Auld, of 9 Lambert street, North-east Valley, Dunedin, celebrated her ninety-eighth birthday on Thursday. She received many congratulatory messages, but the one she prized most is a greetings badge presented to her by the Otago Early Settlers’ Association. Mrs Auld lives with a married daughter, Mrs J. Hemsley, and on Thursday afternoon 'she entertained old friends and guests. She is a sister of the late Mr J. Wain, who was responsible for the building of the main portion of the hotel in Princes street which still carries his name, and Mrs Auld and her husband at one time conducted that business for the former’s brother. One of the few remaining links with the early settlement of Otago, Mrs Auld arrived in Dunedin with her parents as a girl of 14 years on the ship George Canning in 1856, so that she has lived for 85 years of her life in Dunedin.
