VISIT OF LADIES’ BAND
RECITAL AT RUGBY PARK An attractive programme has been arranged for the visit of the Dunedin Ladies’ Brass Band tomorrow. The band, which will be making its first appearance in Invercargill, has a membership of 42 players and is under the conductorship of Mr Hilmer Davie. The concert manager is Mr J. F. Himburg, well-known for his association with the Dunedin community sings. Arriving by the 11.20 special excursion, the band will be met by the Battalion Boys’ Band and will be escorted to the Battalion Band room, where the band members will be the guests of the Boys’ Band at luncheon and tea. The recital will be held at Rugby Park at 2.45 p.m., when the Ladies’ Band will present a varied programme with the assistance of the Caledonian Pipe Band, the Battalion Boys’ Band and the band of the Ist Battalion, Southland Regiment. The Pipe Band will stage a spectacular drum majors’ display and will also be heard in several selections. The Boys’ Band will present a quickstep and will assist with the senior bands in massed bands’ selections. Should the weather be unfavourable, the recital will be transferred to the Civic Theatre, in which case the Ladies’ Band will present the full programme.
