ACTION EXPECTED IN SPRING
MELBOURNE, November 13. Lieutenant-General Sir Thomas Blarney, general officer commanding the Australian Imperial Force, interviewed today, hinted that he expects an extensive campaign next spring, but he would not indicate the whereabouts of the probable hostilities. Whatever happened, he declared, the Australian troops would fight as a single force. He considered the position in the Middle East fairly stable and air support in this theatre had improved out of all comprehension, while the newly devised co-operation between the Army and the Air Force would probably spell the end of all the former troubles.
