PATRIOTIC FUNDS Additional contributions to patriotic funds in Eastern Southland bring the Gore total to £7140/4/6, Mandeville to £473/6/7, Balfour to £2670/18/6, and Pukerau-Kaiwera to £1132/15/5. More than £2O has been received for the Gore soldiers’ parcels fund. PERSONAL Wireless-Operator John L. Cooney, Royal New Zealand Air Force, who is visiting Gore on leave, was met by the Mayoi- (Mr W. D. Shelton) and presented with a cheque on behalf of the citizens of the town. Leading-Aircraftman Mervyn Steel, who is visiting his parents, Mr and Mrs A. C. Steel, Gore, on leave was met by the Mayor (Mr W. D. Shelton) and members of the executive of the Gore R.S.A. The Mayor, on behalf of the citizens of the town, made a presentation of a cheque to Leading-Aircraft-man Steel. Mr J. Ritchie (president) spoke on behalf of the R.S.A.
