AUSTRALIA’S VITAL POSITION

(Rec. 6.40 p.m.) MINNEAPOLIS, October 23. The Australian Minister, Mr R. G. Casey, in a speech to the Civic and Commerce Association tonight, outlined Australia’s war effort. He pointed out that Australia was strategically located in the south-west Pacific area, holding vital significance should the war spread to the Pacific. “If this unfortunately came about we believe the Army, Navy and Air Force of Australia would pay its way and in association with others uphold our endeavour and ambition of not being a liability to our friends in peace or war,” said Mr Casey.
