BOYS’ CAMP TO BE HELD AT LAKE HAYES Arrangements fox’ the boys’ camp which will be held by the Invercargill Y.M.C.A. at Lake Hayes aftex- Christmas were discussed at the monthly meeting of the directors of the association. The president (Mi’ F. Lange) was in the chair. It was stated that the association had been promised the use of the slxow grounds and buildings at Lake Hayes. The general secretary (Mr Dudley Wills) said it was hoped that between 60 and 70 boys would be attending the camp. It was announced that all ministers in Invercargill had been made honorary members of the association. It was decided to ask the Ladies’ Auxiliary to co-operate in the despatch of Christmas parcels to the 17 members who were serving in the armed forces. In his monthly report Mr Wills said membership of the 12 gymnasium classes had totalled 415 during the month. The month had seen the peak of the season’s gymnasium work and the standard had been remarkably high. SOCIAL EVENING When the New Zealand gymnastic championships were begun again the association would be able to send teams. Many extra practices had been held in preparation for the Middle school demonstration, and although the depax-ture of young men to camp had handicapped the routines, the teams had given a creditable display. All clubs associated with the association had continued to function at full pressure. A social evening had been held to celebrate the success of the gymnasium season. There was a large attendance. Among the guests were the president of the association (Mr Lange) and Mrs Lange, Messrs W. F. Bisset (vice-presi-dent), G. Skipworth (treasurer), Mesdames J. Ruthven, W. Kissel and J. D. Walker, representatives of the Ladies’ Auxiliary, and Mr T. Page, representing the business men’s class. A number of toasts was honoured and musical items presented after which.a dance was held..
