NORTH EXPRESS WANTED ON MONDAYS
The possibility of inducing the Railways Department to run an express from. Dunedin to Christchurch at 10.50 on Monday mornings or a through express from Invercargill, running to the same schedule as those on other days of the week, was again discussed by the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce at its meeting on Tuesday night, Mr J. Phillips emphasized the need for the express from the point of view of business men in the city, who, he said, had no means of sending important mail north on Monday mornings. It was decided to have the question investigated by a special committee from the chamber, the Manufacturers’ Association, the Dunedin Development Council, the Employers’ Association, in co-operation with the Railways Department. It was also decided to seek the support of the Oamaru, Gore and Invercargill Chambers.
