MAGISTRATE’S COURT
MONDAY (Before Mr R. C. Abernethy, S.M.) Alexander Newton Reid, a labourer, of Invercargill, was convicted on a charge of obtaining a radio set on false pretences and sentenced to six months’ imprisonment. Reid appeared on Thursday afternoon and was remanded until yesterday. The charge was that he obtained a radio set valued at £22 from Dickey’s Ltd. by representing falsely that he was Harry Bfomby and that he was employed as a rabbiter at Browns. He pleaded guilty. Detective J. Hill represented the police and Mr John Tait appeared for the accused.
The Magistrate reviewed the accused’s record and said that in view of his list of convictions and his conduct he required further discipline.
