SOUTH HILLEND
The wind-up of the series of euchre tournaments arranged by the South Hillend Citizens’ Association was held in the hall recently. The prize-winners for the evening were Mrs J. Hazlett and Mr J. Muir. The season’s aggregate prizes were won by Mrs J. Hazlett and Mr F. Bell. A successful concert was presented in the hall by the Otautau “Hot Shot” concert party. A good attendance was present and at the conclusion of the
concert Mr J. Murphy, on behalf of the Citizens’ Association, thanked the performers for their splendid performance. Mr O’Brien replied on behalf of the party. An enjoyable evening was spent recently in Mr W. Smith’s barn, when the friends of Mr and Mrs Linton Burnett gathered to bid them farewell. The evening was spent in dancing, Mr J. Plunkett being master of ceremonies. Mr W. Smith made a presentation on behalf of the district residents. Messrs Plunkett and A. Clarke also spoke and Mr Burnett replied.
