REPORT OF ITALIAN MISSION TO U.S.
NEW YORK, Sept. 19. The New York Post published today with a banner headline an exclusive, copyright story from its European representative saying that the Italian Government had sent a special mission to the United States prepared to take over the immediate representation of Italy in Washington should an Axis rupture occur. It is alleged that the journey was made with the knowledge and consent of the British blockade authorities. No immediate breach of the Axis is predicted, but the mission will serve as a form of insurance if Nazi pressure becomes too severe.
