SOLDIER KILLED IN CAR ACCIDENT
(P.A.) WANGANUI, September 7. George Wyeth, aged 32, married, a staff sergeant at Waiouru camp, was killed on Saturday night when a car in which he was travelling went over a bank on the Taihape-Napier road. In company with three other soldiers he had been visiting Taihape and on the return journey they took the Napier road by mistake. Wyeth’s widow lives at Featherston. DIED ON WEDDING DAY (P.A.) AUCKLAND, September 7. A tragic death occurred on Saturday when Albert Benton, who was to have been married at 5 o’clock the same afternoon, became ill and died at his home in Titirangi. Mr Benton was aged 27 and was employed as a liftman in the city. He spent the afternoon working in his garden and became ill at 4 o’clock and died at 6 p.m.
