COMMITTEE ACTIVITIES The monthly meeting of the Invercargill sub-centre was held on Thursday evening, Mr J. D. Campbell presiding. It was decided to accept the offer of Mi’ and Mrs F. G. Hall-Jones, “Lennel,” Gladstone, and a garden party in aid of funds for the voluntary aid equipment, will be held on Saturday, October 4, 1941, at 2 o’clock. It was also announced that the net proceeds of the Invercargill Horticultural Society’s Daffodil Show will be devoted to the funds of the local Red Cross Society. Lectures for voluntary aids will be resumed on Tuesday at 7.15 o clock m the U.F.S. room, Tay street. The society wishes to acknowledge with thanks gifts from the Otara SubCentre, £l/7/-; the Gladstone Bridge Four, £l/5/-; Todd and Sons, Waikiwi, £2/6/6; Dipton Sub-Centre, £69/18/3; Georgetown Committee, £2/9/6; Ladies Committee St. Andrew’s Scottish Society, £l/0/6; sale of victory badges, 3/9; Mrs Rillstone, Mrs J. Gibson, Miss Gothard, W.D.F.U. Tussock Creek, Mrs A. Gilkison, one quilt from Lumsden school children. Parcels were sent from Winton, Dipton, Otara and Wallacetown. „ The members of the Gladstone Committee will be in charge of the depot next week. COMMITTEE REPORTS Waikiwi Committee: The members of the sewing guild will meet on Thursday, September 11, at the home of Mrs A Fraser, North road, at 2.15 o clock. Gladstone Committee: The members of the sewing guild met and finished all work in hand. The winner of the competition (bulbs given by Mr F. G. HallJones) was Miss V. A. Deschler, 29 Gala street. East Invercargill Committee: The members will meet on Monday, September 8, at 2 o’clock when sewing will

be distributed at the Mitchell street Kindergarten Hall. Avenal-Northend Committee: The members will meet for sewing in the room at Russell's garage on Thursday, September 11, at 2 o’clock. Central Committee: The members will meet for sewing on Monday at the residence of Mrs J. G. Macdonald, 61 Don street, at 2 o’clock. A bring-and-buy sale will be held on Friday, September 12, at 11 o’clock in St. John’s Sunday School hall, Tay street. Donations of goods will be gratefully received by the committee. Please ring 2680 or 2683. Georgetown Committee: The members of the sewing guild will meet on Wednesday, September 10, at 2 o’clock in the Presbyterian Sunday School hall, Centrd street, Georgetown.
