MINOR FIRE AT MATAURA

The Mataura fire brigade received a call about 10.30 o’clock on Thursday night to an outbreak of fire at the residence of Mr and Mrs A. G. Clark, Doctors road. The fire apparently originated behind the fireplace of a room, and strips of the wall were damaged by flames. The house is situated on the top of a hill on the east side of the river and the nearest source of water supply was at the bottom of the hill. It was necessary to run out 1000 feet of hose to reach the scene of the outbreak. No serious damage was done.
