Young Man Seriously Injured

As a result of a collision at the corner of the North road and the road leading to the brickworks of McSkimming and Son, Ltd., at 5 p.m. yesterday, Wilfred George McCurdy, aged 26, was taken by ambulance to the Southland Hospital with severe head injuries. Late last night his condition was reported to be serious. McCurdy, who is employed by McSkimming and Son, Ltd., was riding his bicycle along the brickworks road and at the intersection with the North road came into collision with a motor-car that was being driven north along the North road by Herbert Victor Rumler, a farmer, of Aparima R.D., Otautau. McCurdy was flung off his bicycle and hit the left front door of the car. An ambulance was summoned and he was taken to hospital. The window of the left front door of the car was broken and the panel pushed in. The front wheel of the bicycle was badly twisted.
