ALTERNATIVE SERVICE URGED

The Dannevirke Returned Soldiers’ Association carried a motion that every person exempted from military service on any grounds other than medical or undue hardship should be required to 1 give alternative service for the dura--3 tion of the war at soldiers’ rates of pay. 3 The mover, remarking on the labour ’ situation, said that recently he advert--3 ised for a farm manager for share “ milkers and received no fewer than 32 applications.
