RICCARTON TRAINING
SLAYER AND WHIRR JUMP WELL (Special) CHRISTCHURCH, July 28. Slayer and Whirr, who arrived at Riccarton on Saturday, were companions in a useful schooling task over the inside steeplechase fences today, both jumping well. Flame Queen and Night Prince jumped four hurdles, and Mungatoon was sent over six hurdles, all shaping satisfactorily. Parchment was not taken to Washdyke on Saturday because of a foot being pricked, and although the trouble is expected to be overcome in the next few days he is not likely to be produced in the Kennels Hack Handicap next Saturday. The death occurred at Riccarton on Saturday of the three-year-old Night Rehearsal, by Friday Night from Silk Stocking, dam of Grey Silk. Bred by Mr -R. W. Franks, he had recently been in work under the care of C. Dawson and had shown track ability. Recollection is to be given a few days’ respite after his mishap at Washdyke on Saturday and is an unlikely starter at the Christchurch Hunt meeting.
